Google Inovates Again!

Google, the ubiquitous company that started as a very powerful search engine and morphed into a verb accepted by Webster’s dictionary, has done it again! Today they launched not one, not two, but THREE new projects!

First, for their Gmail email service, today they introduced “Gmail Custom Time“, a tool that allows you to send mail today as though you had sent it yesterday – or last month – or anytime until April 1st, 2004 “the day we launched Gmail.” If you haven’t seen it yet, here’s a screenshot

Pretty cool, huh?

Next, we have the Virgle Pioneer project, a collaboration between Google and Virgin

(as in, the company that brought you SpaceShip One and

other cool, independent space-flight projects). This one looks pretty promising, actually, and is certainly forward thinking. That is a lot more than can be said of any of our Presidential candidates, on whom we can’t quite count. Don’t believe me? See Hillary’s website, Google for Barack (it’s not so clear cut on his website, but plenty of reputable people are discussing his view of space exploration), and Goggle again to look up info on John McCain’s views on the matter.

Last but certainly not least is the Google Wake Up Kit“, a solution to chronic late-morning wake-ups.
From their website:

The “wake up” notification uses several progressively more annoying alerts to wake you up. First it will send an SMS message to your phone. If that fails, more coercive means will be used. The kit includes an industrial-sized bucket and is designed to be connected to your water main for automatic filling. In addition, a bed-flipping device is included for forceful removal from your sleeping quarters.

That’s it for today.

BTW… Happy Day!
